How we calculated it

We query series unemployment_rate_pct of dataset cepal-social-anual (CEPALSTAT) in VerDat's normalised layer, taking each country's latest available figure between 2020 and 2024. The comparison includes only the 14 countries whose latest figure is 2024, and the change is computed against the same country's 2023 value. The chart reproduces the query; the values are re-verified automatically every day.

69 rows match the query; 14 results remain in the summary.

What it means and what it does not

The comparison relies on a harmonised ECLAC series rather than national methodologies, so figures may differ from domestic official statistics. Furthermore, this single-year figure reflects Honduras's standing in 2024 among the 14 analysed countries, without explaining the drivers of the decline or establishing a long-term trend.

Every indicator is a rate, index or ratio — compare and rank, never sum. Survey years differ by country; missing years are gaps, not zeros.
