More than nine in ten young people finish upper secondary school in Peru; in Guatemala, fewer than one in four
After Peru, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Bolivia and Colombia are around 80%. Since 2015, eight of the 10 with data for both years improved; Guatemala slipped (from 26.3% to 23.1%) and Honduras was roughly flat (from 42.7% to 40.3%). Uruguay gained 20.4 percentage points and is still 11th of 13 (55.5%).

Murder investigations in Mexico fell in 2025 to their lowest since 2015; in Sinaloa they rose by 68.1%
The national count fell by 21.6%, from 25,465 to 19,974, with fewer files in 26 of the 32 states. In Sinaloa it went from 805 to 1,353, the state’s highest since the series began in 2015; its share of the total rose from 3.2% to 6.8%.

Between 2021 and 2025 Bolivia went from the lowest to the highest inflation of the 14 countries in this comparison
In 2021 prices in Bolivia rose by 0.9%, the least of the 14 countries. In 2025 they rose by 20.4%, the most since 1988 and 4 times Colombia’s rate (5.1%), the next highest. In 2026 inflation has eased: 9.2% over 12 months in June and 4.9% in July, based on the World Bank’s price index.

By UN estimates, Dominican infant mortality has been the highest of the 14 countries in this comparison since 2011
It fell just 17.2% between 2000 and 2024, the smallest fall of the 14, to 27.7 deaths per 1,000 live births: 2.4 times the median (1.2 times in 2000). Bolivia, the highest in 2000, cut its rate by 75.1%. Yet the Dominican Republic has the fourth-highest GDP per person of the 14.
